In the Bible: There are 42 Generations From Abraham to Jesus

This is a new series (1-17) of Verse No. in the Bible versus the Quran.

Verse No. 17 in the Old Testament says that God set them (the sun and the moon) in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth

Verse No. 17 in the New Testament says: So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.

Verse No. 17 in the Noble Quran says: there is a sickness in their (the hypocrites) hearts which Allah has increased; for them there is a painful punishment because they lie.

==========

The verse No. 17 in the Old Testament is Genesis 1:17

The verse continues talking about the creation of the heavens and the earth, it says: God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,

The verse means that God placed the sun and the moon in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,

Here again, the Bible does not name the sun and the moon.

Why God did not name the sun and the moon and called them in verse 1:17: “Them” and called them in verse 1:16 the greater light and the lesser light?

It is said that they are not called by their names, because in Old Testament times some people worshiped the sun and the moon as though they were gods.

Are you convinced by this explanation?

The verse No. 17 in the New Testament is Matthew 1:17

The verse continues talking about the Genealogy of Jesus Christ, and Matthew lists Jesus’ ancestors, the verse says: So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.

So, there are 42 generations from Abraham to Jesus

Verse No. 17 in the Noble Quran is Chapter 2:10,

Surah AL-BAQARA (THE COW), 2:10

Verse 2:8 states that the hypocrites say: ‘we believe in Allah and the last day, ‘ yet they are not believers.

Verse 2:9 says: They (the hypocrites) think to beguile Allah and those who believe, and they beguile none save themselves; but they perceive not.

Verse 2:10 continues talking about the hypocrites; it says:

“There is a sickness in their (the hypocrites) hearts which Allah has increased; for them there is a painful punishment because they lie.”

The Meaning of the verse:

In their hearts is a sickness: doubt and hypocrisy, which ails their hearts, debilitating them; and Allah has increased their sickness with what He has revealed in the Quran, since they disbelieve it; and there awaits them a painful chastisement because they used to lie

In other words, There is a disease in their hearts, doubt, hypocrisy, conflict and darkness ; so Allah increased their disease, increased their doubt, hypocrisy, conflict and darkness. And a painful doom is theirs, they will have a painful torment in the Hereafter which shall extend to their hearts, because they lie in secret.

They lie In English versus yakdhib?n in Arabic

Verse 2:10 says that the hypocrites they will have a painful torment in the Hereafter because they lie.

The word: “they lie” in Arabic is read as yukadhdhib?n or yakdhib?n.

Yukadhdhib?n means that  they used to call the Prophet Muhammad a liar, yakdhib?n means that they are liars when they say we believe in public although they do not believe in their heart.

The Penalty for either or both sins (Yukadhdhib?n and/or yakdhib?n) is a painful torment in the Hereafter.
