The Untold Story of Amin’s Tyrannical Rule in Uganda
Nothing good has ever been said about Amin as the president of Uganda. And I don’t see the reason why I should not support it also. It is not my wanting to speak ill of this man but in real sense this man was a bloodthirsty animal called man.
From my research I have failed to understand how he managed to rule Uganda for more than 8 years with his reign of terror and still be loved by some Ugandans.
Many scholars say that his rule was the most notorious ever known in Africa. And no matter that’s why Uganda in known for this man called Amin.
While everybody is interested in knowing more about his rule, very few people have ever tried to know why he was the way he was.
Uganda as a country of many ethnic tribes mainly from Luo and Bantu ethnic groups, there was always a collision of power among themselves and this is where a man like Amin gets chance to rule a country like Uganda. But otherwise how can a man like Amin who was no educated rule a country that had professors and intellectuals.
At the time Amin took over power from president Obote, Uganda’s economy was booming to the African standard but after the expulsion of foreigners in Uganda, the economy went down completely and Uganda was put under trade embargo thus making Ugandans vulnerable to starvation.
Had it not been for Uganda’s fertile soils, Ugandans were to die like cockroaches.
Not withstanding Amins negative deeds many Ugandans and Africans supported him. This was seen by the time when he expelled the Asians. Many Uganda took over business and that why all fields that were managed by these expelled Asians were filled by Ugandans and today a big percentage of Business in Uganda is
under the indigenous Ugandans thus many Ugandans praise Amin for chasing away the Asians.
After many Ugandan trying to overthrow Amin and failed, he was overthrown By Tanzanian forces supported by some Ugandan who were exiled by amin. What happened was more terror to Uganda under the leader ship of Obote 2.
This is what force many Ugandans to go to the bush and fought the guerrilla war that lasted for more than 5 years. At present, Uganda is among the fastest developing countries of Africa thanks to Uganda president Mr. Museveni who stopped the reign of terrow and encourages the return of Asians and new investors.
And to the side of tourism, it is back to its fullest because Uganda as a pearl of Africa has everything you will ever think to look at before you die. But don’t forget to know that all these were forgotten at the time of Amin as the president of Uganda.
